Yates County Woman, Child Airlifted After Car Strikes Tree – Finger Lakes Daily News
A harrowing incident occurred late Saturday night in the town of Geneva, Yates County, when a car crashed into a tree, resulting in the airlifting of a child and a woman to Strong Memorial Hospital. The accident has left the community shaken and authorities investigating the circumstances that led to this devastating outcome.

Swerving to Avoid Deer Leads to Tragic Consequences

Authorities Respond to the Scene

According to the authorities, the driver of the vehicle swerved to avoid a deer on Snell Road, but failed to see the stop sign at the intersection with White Spring Road. The car continued southward before colliding with the tree, causing significant damage and injuries to the occupants. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the injured parties were airlifted or transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Injuries and Hospitalization

The most seriously injured individuals were a 40-year-old woman, Princess Anthony, from Branchport, and the oldest of the three children in the car, all under the age of 14. Princess Anthony was airlifted by Marcellus Mercy Flight to Rochester for treatment of lower leg and pelvic fractures. The child, whose identity was not disclosed, was also airlifted by LifeNet for lower body and abdominal pain. The other two occupants, 44-year-old Patrick Brown of Branchport and another child, were taken to the same hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance for checkups.

Charges and Presumption of Innocence

The driver of the car, whose identity was not released by the police, was issued a ticket for failure to stop at the stop sign. It is important to note that the fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Ongoing Investigation and Community Concern

The tragic incident has left the community of Yates County deeply concerned and saddened. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash, and the well-being of the injured parties remains a top priority. As the community grapples with this heartbreaking event, it serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance when navigating the roads, especially in areas where wildlife may be present.
